Digital Design and Technological Governance

We accompany organizations on two complementary levels: the design of their digital experience and the governance of their technological decisions

What is it about?

Digital design and technological governance combine two practices that organizations often treat separately, but are actually inseparable: designing how people experience the digital world, and deciding how the organization governs its technological decisions.

At Cívica, we work on both levels. On the design level, we evaluate and redesign digital experiences based on user research, UX principles, usability laws, and established heuristics.

On the governance level, we support institutions, companies, and international organizations on three fronts that are currently redefining the public sector in the region: the implementation of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) with open and interoperable standards, the building of technological sovereignty against dependency on global vendors, and the ethical governance of Artificial Intelligence in organizations that are adopting these technologies faster than they can govern them.

We work in Central America, the Caribbean, and the rest of the world under a clear conviction: technology is not neutral, and the digital decisions an organization makes are, at their core, civic decisions.

When do you need it?

This service is for your organization if you identify with any of these situations:

  • The world is moving faster than your manuals or digital tools and you don't know where to start. It might be that you have never wondered how to face the digital era, or you have doubts about how to start and want solutions that adapt to the realities, resources, and capacities of your teams.

  • The portal works, but people do not use it. You invested in a digital platform or software and the adoption, completion, or satisfaction indicators are not moving. The problem is almost never technical; it is about experience.

  • The team is already using AI, but there are no clear rules. People adopted Artificial Intelligence tools on their own, and now there are open risks regarding data, privacy, and the quality of automated decisions.

  • You depend on platforms you do not control or do not know how to evaluate. Your critical operation runs on global providers, and that raises questions that were not asked before: what happens if conditions change? Who has access to the data? How easy would it be to migrate?

  • You need to modernize without being locked into a single provider. You are looking to implement digital platforms (portals, identity systems, payments, registries) but you want to do so with open, interoperable, and sustainable standards over time.
